My Other Wheels

We live in an over 55 retirement community. The community is gated with private roads, and although there is no golf course, many residents have golf carts because they can drive them on the community roads.


Shortly after moving in, we thought we should keep up with the Jones by buying a golf cart.


Golf carts are surprisingly expensive. I looked around and found that a fully equipped, brand new model could be half the price of a new car. Even used carts were more than I wanted to spend. We decided to keep up with the Jones some other way.

Accessibility is important Anthony Lawrence (Pcunix) TECHNOLOGY Safari can show text in photos, Voice Over should read it, but it doesn’t Yesterday I posted an article about Google Bard and made a bad accessibility mistake. I posted screenshots of Bard and ChatGPT rather than pasting in the content. That was sloppy. I want to thank for calling me on my error at “ Your ChatGPT Screenshots Suck ”. I won’t make that mistake again, but it also reminded me to be more aware of Alt Text. Alt Text is important If the text had been short, I could have used the Alt Text option to add what a sighted person can see. Unfortunately, Safari and probably the Web Accessibility Standards only allow a limited amount of explanation in Alt Text. I didn’t think of it anyway, so that wouldn’t have helped.   Apple Fitness+ Was a Big Help for My Weight Loss I’m glad that I came back to it HEALTH Adobe Firefly image by author “Older man exercising with dumbbells” I recently  wrote about my long path to lose the weight  I had gained before retiring. As I said there, part of my success came from exercising more than I did when I was working. I have always found time for exercise and was never in really poor shape, but I wasn’t doing enough to stay in really  good  shape. It didn’t help that I was a smoker until 1995, and the long hours I spent driving to my customers who were scattered all over New England added to my sloth and my dad bod. Most of my exercise was simple things like walking, pushups, calisthenics, that sort of thing, with an occasional visit to the gym. Those at least kept me from obesity.
